Details of new Additional Indoor Flying Hall and Dates
I have now arranged for additional indoor flying at the new Suffolk One College in their new sports hall on Friday evenings on the following dates. Woodbridge will still be used as well until the existing contract runs out in December. The flying times are booked for 19.00 to 21.00pm so be prompt in your arrival in order to use the reduced time available.
Dates booked
| 09/03/2012 | ||
| 23/03/2012 | ||
| 13/04/2012 | ||
| 24/02/2012 | 11/05/2012 |
As you would expect there will be security at the entrance and members will be expected to show their club membership card as well their BMFA insurance. Any young members or people must be accompanied by a parent.
The hall itself is ideally suited for flying rubber and electric radio controlled indoor models having a ceiling height of 8 metres and a floor area in excess of six badminton courts. It is also equipped with vertical nets so suitable areas could be separated and perhaps allow continuous flying of rubber and helicopter models leaving half the hall for shockies and fixed wing to share flying slots of 15 minutes. Suitable flight lines could also be positioned for each area for increased safety of pilots and spectators.
Normal rates for indoor flying at Woodbridge £2.50 will apply for club members but non-club members will increase to £3.50. Non-members will also have to show their own BMFA insurance on entry.
The location of the hall is excellent for Ipswich indoor flying being on the main A12 route out of town opposite the Holiday Inn and I think contribute to the club's need for an increased size of venue and frequency for this type of activity.
The one downside to Suffolk One is that there are no tables or tea and coffee facilities but there are plugs for charging batteries. I do not consider these major obstacles as members can bring their own.
I hope that members will support and contribute their own ideas to this new arrangement, I look forward to seeing many of you there.
